Hive Prep!

Hive Prep!

I have been extremely busy over the last month taking bee mentoring classes with my local Bee Keepers Association and attending various Bee schools, the most recent of which was at Kentucky State University.  I have learned so much over the last month from NUC installation to mite treatments and tons about pollinator gardens.

I have been steady getting my supplies identified and slowly purchased. So far so good and I am really working to keep costs down. I am quickly realizing this can cost as much or as little as you want to spend.  Therefore until the lovely ladies of the The Tiny Bee Co Apiary are established I will not be investing in larger more expensive equipment!

With spring rapidly approaching I really needed to take some time and get my Apiary yard identified and my hive bodies prepped and set up.  I ended up setting each roughly 5ft apart and 16in off the ground.  This allows space to work in between hives and keeps them high enough to deter small animals and mice.

My first NUC will be ready to pick up on April 15 and the other 2 will be ready later in the month! I do plan on going live on tiktok for the installations so if your following along stay tuned for live dates and times ☺️
